The Page Law

For the page law I used http://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/intrel/chinex.htm, http://www.cetel.org/1875_page.html, and another website.
The Page Law was invented on March 3, 1875 by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America and it was mostly aimed at immigrants from any oriental countries and women. The Page Law was made so that any immigrants that come to America voluntarily won’t be able to get on a high position in any of the companies that they work for, but they’ll be able to work. Also it’s so that women who come here won’t prostitute on the streets.
The consequences of the page law is that even if lazy people are doing jobs that someone else deserves they won’t be fire they’ll still be on the same level they were, they won’t get any promotion no matter how hard they work, and it won’t be fair to them.
My response to this is that it isn’t really fair what the Senate and the House of Representatives did because they don’t’ give immigrants the chance to prove to the U.S. how hard-working they could be, and how they could exceed at their best.

The "page law" is mainly aiming at chinese woman who is going for prostitution. The page law is talking about how chinese woman going for prostitution is forbidden in the US and anyone who forces them to do it will face up to 5 years in prison or pay a fine up to 5,000 dollars. It is also talking about how if you commited a crime in china and you come to America you will be sended back to china.
The US government wrote this treaty and the consequenses for forbidding them are going to jail up to more then 5 years and paying a fine up to 5,000 dollars.
I think that this act is fair to the chinese immigrants because if you commited a crime you should be displined but maybe shouldn't be send back to china because they traveled a long way to come here. Woman prositution is wrong in china or in the United States. It should be forbidden because the chinese came here either to make more money and support their families back home or they came to make a better life out of themselves. Sometimes the chinese womans are forced to prositiue because they need the money and because they own chinese gang's money so they sell their bodies out so they could pay them back.

In the Page Law I used the sources http://www.sanfranciscochinatown.com/history/1875pagelaw.html, http://www.cetel.org/1875_page.html,and
http://academic.udayton.edu/race/02rights/statute1875.htm. In the Page Law, this is aimed at Chinese women who are coming to America. This happened during 1875, and the senate and the House of Representatives created this. In the Page Law, it says that women were not allowed into the United States because of prostitution. If the people want women to come to America, then they would have a reason. If they are said that they are guilty of felony, then they would be jailed for not more than five years or they would have to pay a fine not less than five thousand dollars. If the people coming here have committed a crime back in their old country and they wanted to come to America, they were not allowed to. If women were imported to America, then they would be checked, and the person checking them have a right to believe that intolerable people are onboard. After I had read about the Page Law, I was wondering why did the people who made this law not let women come just because they want to find money by being a prostitute? Isn¡¦t there any work for women instead of them being a prostitute?

This law was passed in March 3, 1875 by the Senate and the House of Representatives. This goes for anyone from other countries. The law thinks that there will be women importated for the purpose of prostitution and that is forbidden. Anyone who tries and import prostitutes from other countries is guilty and charged for felony, they will be imprisoned for 5 years and pay a fine of up to $5,000.
