Mary Dyer and Harriet Jacobs
The experiences of Harriet Jacobs and Mary Dyer are example of ways certain groups of people are oppressed and discriminated against because of who they are because the groups that they were in were considered dangerous, underestimated, or both.
Mary Dyer was a Quaker which was considered dangerous back in the 17th century in England, and she had to be hanged because she wanted religious freedom but instead she got religious persecution. Just because the Puritans in the government wanted control over people they made a law saying that whichever Quaker entered Boston would be immediately be sent to the gallows, but they’ll give them chances. Mary Dyer had more than 3 chances to have her sentence reprieved but she chose to die anyway. For dying she’s known as a martyr a person who gave up their lives so that other people could have what she worked so hard to succeed in getting, and finally did. Mary Dyer was drowned out by many other political white Puritan men’s voices; they tried to get rid of “her kind” by keeping them out so that they might have control over other people, but she fought against them by her keep on coming back.
Harriet Jacobs is an example of ways certain groups of people are oppressed and discriminated because she was discriminated and oppressed. Just because she was a black female slave her owner Dr. Norcom thought that he could take advantage of her and do whatever he pleased with her. She was oppressed because she couldn’t do anything about it as long as she was a slave to Dr. Norcom and wasn’t free each and every day she would feel held back from what she wanted, freedom.

hey Mishi,

you have a lot of infomation in this thesis, maybe too much! I htink you should shorten it and think about giving the reader a hint of what your essay will be about and not so much historical info...But this is a great star.

BTW WHO ARE YOU????? ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
